Remember the nights at the dinner table when your mother said to you, “don’t forget to eat your vegetables!” Those were the words that seemed to strike every nerve in our bodies and disrupt our inner peace while trying to have a conflict-free dinner.
What do I do???
So how did you approach this situation? Did you plug your nose and give your mother a look of disgust while eating those forsaken vegetables? Or did you slip them very carefully and covertly to the dog hovering below the kitchen table?
Mother knows best
Regardless of how you handled the situation, the old saying, “mother knows best” truly has a lot of merit in terms of what is going to make us healthiest! With this being said, wouldn’t you like to learn of a hassle-free way to consume all the nutrient and vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables without the tedious task of preparation and taking the “bland” out of them with seasonings, butter, cheese, etc?
Art of Juicing
Well then let’s explore the “art” and healing of juicing! Simply put, juicing is the “weeding out” of juice from fruit and vegetables. This can be done by way of numerous types of juicers to include hand juicers, masticating juicers, twin juicers, centrifugal juicers, and hydraulic press juicers.
Juicing for better health
So why juice for better health you ask? Well think of it like this – our small intestine is approx. 20 feet long and our large intestine is approx. 5 feet long. With this kind of magnitude, it’s safe to say that occasionally our intestines want to take it easy by not working so hard? Juicing helps facilitate that by removing the fibers in fruits and vegetables and thus, making the juice highly concentrated and almost effortless for the body to digest and absorb into the bloodstream.
Fruits and juicing
Although more tasty, keep in mind that juices comprised of mostly fruits will generate a slight elevation of sugar in your blood. However, one daily glass of a fruit juice will not be the precursor for diabetes or obesity. Fortunately, the sugar in fruit is better than refined sugar in terms how easily its absorbed by our bodies.
Healing fruits include:
Everything in moderation
Everything in moderation and keep in mind if you have any conditions sensitive to sugar intake such as diabetes, a blood disorder, yeast infection, and/or problems with weight gain, you should probably stick to juices comprised of mostly vegetables.
Vegetables and juicing
As for the addition of vegetables to your juice, the list is almost endless! Just think by adding any of the following to your juice, your body is going to reap the healing attributes and therapeutic benefits simply by drinking a nutrient and vitamin-rich glass! Say goodbye to the struggle of eating vegetables unfavorable to the palate.
- Alfalfa sprouts
- Brussels sprouts
- Collard greens
- Ginger root
- Sweet potato
- Swiss chard
